Industrial 4G LTE IoT Gateway with CAN, GPS, 5 RS485, RS232

The industrial IoT Gateway RGX-870M Computer product family is specifically designed for use in mobile applications in all types of vehicles. The RGX-870M vehicle computer is equipped with a freely configurable and programmable Linux Debian 9 / Stretch based operating system. The RPi compatibility leads to significant cost savings in software development, system setup, and system maintenance. Applications can be realized quickly and inexpensively. The system is equipped with an integrated 4G / LTE modem and a GPS / GLONASS receiver and supports - among other interfaces - up to 2 CAN ports. Thanks to the very low power consumption, the device operates fanless. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the system is easy to install even in demanding installation situations.

 

 

Industrial-grade interface equipment
The RGX-870M industrial Computer System supports up to 2 CAN bus interfaces in the 2.0A and 2.0B standards. In addition, a 10/100 Mbit Ethernet interface, RS485 and RS232 interfaces as well as two 480Mbps USB host interfaces are supported. In addition, digital inputs and outputs are also available for the application. Optionally, an I2C interface and a 1-Wire interface enable the coupling of a wide variety of sensors.

Powerful and reliable computer platform
The RGX-870M vehicle computer is equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor. The main memory is 1GB memory and as mass storage a 4GB onboard eMMC, alternatively up to 128GB onboard microSD mass storage available. With the hardware watchdog, the operating software can be reliably protected against failure due to unintentional operating states. The integrated 4G / LTE module can be restarted independently of the computer system. The very low power consumption also allows battery-powered applications without any problems.

Worldwide internet connection
The integrated 4G / LTE modem can be used worldwide. There is an automatic fallback to 3G or 2G, should no 4G network be available. To connect to the internet only the provider data is needed. The SIM card is accessible from the outside and is housed in a sturdy holder with lock. The antenna connection of external antennas takes place via FAKRA or alternatively SMA plug connectors.

 

 

Debian 9 / Stretch based Linux system
The operating system is a Debian 9 / Stretch based Raspbian. The system can be conveniently and easily adapted and expanded via the package management. All interfaces of the RGX-870M are controlled via standard ports or interfaces. The CAN ports are programmed via the standardized SocketCAN interface. The J1939 protocol as well as the CANopen protocol are available. Examples of sending and receiving CAN messages ensure fast implementation of specific applications. The internal eMMC or microSD card memory can be easily and conveniently programmed with a setup USB stick with any image. The programming process requires no specialized knowledge and can be performed without a host PC.

SMA Antenna Connectors

The RGX-870M product family is available with both FAKRA antenna connectors and SMA connectors.
FAKRA automotive connectors are standardized connectors with both mechanical and color coding of the corresponding functions, such as 4G in violet color or GPS in blue color.
SMA connectors are widely used standard antennas. Many antennas are offered as standard with SMA plugs.
It should be noted that there are male and female connectors and moreover so-called inverse connectors. In the case of the inverted plugs, the arrangement remains threaded and the union nut but inside the plug, the pin and socket are reversed.
The RGX-870M computer family is equipped for 4G and GPS with SMA standard female connectors.
The antenna must therefore have an SMA standard male connector. WiFi is equipped with an R-SMA connector.

Mounting Brackets

The Bracket option makes it easy to attach the RGX-870M In-Vehicle Computer to flat mounting surfaces. This ensures a stable and easy mounting of the RGX-870M.

DIN-Rail-Holder

The horizontal DIN rail mount option allows the RGX-870M in-vehicle computer to be mounted on a standard DIN rail. The horizontal mounting option is chosen when space is limited to the front.
