Initial situation

For a telematics application in the fleet management area, a vehicle computer was required as a telematics box with special customer-specific hardware and software properties. The interface equipment was specially adapted to the special requirements. Furthermore, the system had to be freely programmable and had to have a powerful computer base.

Conditions

Vehicle data is recorded via two CAN interfaces. Further status signals are recorded via digital inputs. The control of signal and alarm transmitters takes place via digital outputs. Since the telematics box is also used as a retrofit solution in different vehicle generations, the speedometer evaluation in older vehicles is carried out via a K-Line interface. The driver communication between the control center and the driver takes place via a hands-free system that is connected to the integrated audio interface.
An additional RS232 interface is used to connect a card reader for recording driver data. The position is recorded via the integrated GPS interface with external antenna. The connection to the cloud is realized as standard via 4G / 3G interface also with external antenna connection.

The portal system profited from the powerful and precisely adapted to the application vehicle computer execution. Thus, among other things, a comprehensive data preprocessing was already carried out in the vehicle with an efficient database.
